Urinary Tract Infection - Ursula's Story Transcript

I had heard a comment once when I did leave the lavatory, and someone said, I can't believe you've been in there so long, and I think it had some kind of underlying affect where if I did suffer from urinary tract infection I felt like somebody was going to make a nasty comment to me. My name is Ursula. I'm visiting my sister from Phoenix. A couple years ago I simply kept on having horrible symptoms such as pain, burning, and even occasional blood in my urine. I'm a flight attendant, and so I don't often have access to the bathrooms, and when you have that awful burning and sensation, I mean, you just have to immediately seek out a bathroom. For a while there I thought if I get things over the counter that it's just going to help, and it did. But because antibiotics have such a side effect, especially in women, they do provoke other female infections; I knew treating with antibiotics was even worse. I found information about unfiltered cranberry juice and the next time the infection started, I just drank diluted, unfiltered cranberry juice and it seemed to be like the best thing for my infection. It's been probably three years now. I haven't had a single recurrence. I don't have to worry when I'm up in the air about having an infection. I don't know, I'm a happy flight attendant, what can I say.
