"The way to depression isn't necessarily the sadness that it starts from. It's the hating on yourself for being sad, it's not knowing how to handle sadness, that ultimately ends up making it heavier and heavier and heavier to the point where you don't know how to get out of it. Some of the symptoms of depression are helpless thinking, I'm worthless, I don't know how to get out of this, crying, and sadness, and pain; self-medicating, drinking, overeating. The way that you feel doesn't have to be forever, and if you actually take the time, and do the work to take care of those feelings properly, anything is possible."
