Ovarian Cysts & Polycystic Ovaries - Crystal's Story: Episode 2 Transcript

All these great things started happening; they were so subtle that I never thought anything major was happening. My name is Crystal and I have had ovarian cysts for 14 years and I'm currently in the process of being diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. When I turned 24 and I went off of the birth control that was effecting my hormones. I started experiencing other issues. My hair started falling out in clumps, I started getting hairs where females are not supposed to get hairs like random places. I got really worried and my primary physician said, oh don't worry about it, it's not a big deal. Did a little bit of blood work on me, said everything came back normal, it was fine. Finally I was recommended to go to an endocrinologist and I really feel like [somebody was listening] to me. All those minor symptoms; the hair, the face, somebody is listening to what I have to say. And you need to speak to your primary care physician, you need to speak to your endocrinologist, and you need to speak to your OBGYN, they're not something to be over looked.
