Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM)-Amit's Story: part 2

My name's Amit, from South Plainfield, New Jersey.

The medical condition I had was called an AVM. When I got out of the coma, they had me try to walk and I couldn't walk; I couldn't stand up. Basically, if you sit still, your muscles deteriorate, you know, so I lost like 30 pounds in the hospital.

Learning how to walk, I had, you know, it took me like two or three weeks, and then reading and talking was a little bit hard because all this stuff happens to you and you're not sure where you're at. And they put you in therapy and it makes you feel stupid because they make you do - draw squares, triangles, and stuff like that. It doesn't necessarily tell you how well you were - how well you were doing. I felt like I lost a lot when I was in the hospital, but I guess when I came back, I started studying for the GMETS, and that helped build my confidence.

Now, it's been like a year later; I don't have any recollections. I don't have any side effects. I'm doing 110 percent. I'm going back to the gym, going back to work, going to school, and I'm back to normal.
