Prostate Cancer: Men Need to Be Proactive

What do you need to know, what the patients need to know is should I have a PSA and if so, how do I interpret it?

I have a term, and I titled a talk once "The Male Ostrich". Women go to doctors the time they begin to have babies and they get used to it. Men tend to put their heads in the sand and ignore problems, probably male macho. Well luckily, recently, some very prominent people, Bobe Dole, Joe Torre, Colin Powell, Arnold Palmer, have been willing to go out and talk about their prostate disease. So men are finally pulling their heads out of the sand, and what patients need to know is, "If I've got cancer how do I decide what to do, what are the pros and cons and complications if I choose a certain type of treatment? What are the effects of some of the medicines?"
