Ovarian Cysts - Justine's Story

It's February, 2010, and in September, 2009, I was suffering from abdominal pain.

Hi. My name's Justine. I'm from Metuchen, New Jersey, and I here to talk about my ovarian cyst that I was recently diagnosed with.

I went away on vacation to Europe and I was in a great deal of pain, so I went to see a doctor. They took blood work and they discovered that I had a kidney infection. So when I came home from vacation, I went to my regular doctor, and they found that I needed to have some sonograms done, transvaginal, transabdominal sonograms. And they found cysts on my right ovary.

So I was dealing with a great problem because I don't have insurance. I do work, but I don't have medical insurance and, you know, those tests are very expensive. So I did go through the whole process and although I'm still in pain, I do have to have surgery to have one of the cysts removed because it's very large and it causes a great deal of pain and swelling, and bleeding. But I do feel a little bit better knowing that everything's okay with me other than that.
