I noticed something in my hair one day and I went up stairs, asked my mom, and she told me what it was. She had it when she was younger and she knew what I was in store for.
My name's Adam and I'm from New York and I have psoriasis. It started on my legs and was real uncomfortable actually. I had to go to the doctor about three or four times a week to stand in a UV light box to, you know, treat it with light. I had all sorts of steroid creams and all these things. And you know, it lasted pretty severely. It spread from my legs, to my elbows, my knees, and the worst part of all was having it in my - in my hair. I had really serious dry-red skin on my scalp.
I was always worried about having dandruff everywhere. This was especially not a pleasant thing being in high school, that sort of stuff, you know.
I continue to see the doctor, and I got lucky because they came out with some new steroid creams, you know, as I was growing up and, you know, eventually I grew out of - grew out of it. I went through puberty and all that stuff. I went through these treatments and right now, it doesn't really bother me anymore. It's not a big part of my life. I occasionally have a few spots, some outbreaks here and there, but for the most part, it's all under control. Sometimes my skin gets a little dry in the winter, but you know, having psoriasis really isn't what it used to be for me.
