Fibroids: Nicole's Story - Episode 1 Transcript

My name is Nicole, I am 32 years old. A few years ago, I guess you could say, I was diagnosed with Fibroids. You know I got it from a GYN consult. In the beginning I didn't really do anything about it but they grew over time and it got worse. I have had heavy bleeding almost everyday. The worst thing about having these things, basically, is your monthly period can be very very heavy; and with that being said you could suffer from low iron in your system which can cause you to be sick all the time, cold all the time. I have had a relationship and it kinda messed up my relationship to a certain extent. You cant have sex whenever you want or all the time because you are always constantly bleeding. And if you do have sex you have to work around it, like after the shower. You know, when you are in a relationship it is a real disadvantage and as a woman in general, it is a real disadvantage. You don't feel completely feminine, you know it just makes you feel so uncomfortable with your daily life. I have started to take action I got surgery which is called Embolization. Basically what it is, it's a needle that they stick through your ground to shrink the fibroids but it didn't work unfortunately and it kind of made it worse.
