Clinical Anxiety with Depression - Luna Finds Her Treatment
Not everyone believes depression is a real disease. But for Luna and many others it is. In this episode, Luna talks about her struggles with depression and anxiety and how she was able to find the right treatment that worked for her.
My name is Luna. I suffer from clinical depression since I was 11 years old. I started to notice that I was getting very depressed. I was starting to avoid people. I was locking myself in my room all the time. I was feeling very, very sad.
My dad is a doctor, so he was saying, oh don't worry, it's just you're going through changes, the hormones or whatever. And sometimes I thought it was me, it was in my head.
Finally, I told my mom, she took me to several -many doctors. One doctor told me that it was depression with anxiety. I was on several medications. They had to add another medication for my anxiety, I started with a small dosage and then they increased it, increased it. It took like four months to feel it was working. With that medication that I've been taking, I -at this point I have a son, I feel very, very happy in my life. I have so many goals. I'm getting everything that I couldn't before because depression hurts, and it's real. It's an illness and some people doesn't -they don't believe that. And right now I can -I say I -I feel very happy. I can enjoy life to the fullest and that's what I've been doing.
