Breaking the Habit - Jason's Quest to Quit Smoking
Meet Jason, a college student who has been smoking since the beginning of his adolescence. After becoming aware of the health risks smoking cigarettes can cause he has discovered ways of breaking the habit. Find out what these methods are.
I'm Jason Luna. I'm from Somerset, New Jersey and I'm trying to quit smoking. I've been smoking since I was 16 and I don't really know why I started smoking, but the first time I tried smoking it really calmed me down. So usually when I'm really stressed out or like I'm feeling kind of depressed, smoking kind of gets rid of that. Gradually I started being a heavy smoker from like one cigarette a day to maybe ten or seven. And then I was like, it's kind of getting ridiculous. I heard about the health risks, cancer, lung cancer. I'm a health-conscious person so I want to be healthy, that's why I try to walk every day, I skate, I tried different ways to quit. I tried this new stuff, it's a nicotine packet you just put it in your mouth and it's a - it's another way to get nicotine in your system without smoking. So it's kind of healthier but not really healthy.
And then it didn't really work cause I went back to smoking cigarettes and then I heard about this cigarette. It's 100 percent tobacco, no additives or anything. So I started smoking that and slowly I found myself smoking less cigarettes a day, from three a day to one, sometimes I go on a day without smoking even one cigarette.
For all the smokers out there, I know you're trying to quit or anything, but if it's hard for you, just try to exercise, go out for a walk every day. You can go do some physical activities like skateboarding, sports, or anything you like to do that's considered exercising.
