Anger Management: A Moment of Clarity - Evan's Story
"...anger is just a big front for fear of that hurt coming back that we felt when we were younger." These thoughts, along with a life altering moment of clarity, were the impetus that Evan needed to seek help for controlling his anger.
"Anger Management: A Moment of Clarity: Evan's Story"
"It occured to me right then that I was a catalyst in killing my father, it was hard for me to take, I turned back to alcohol as he had, and I relied on it for some time. I can remember driving to work one morning, screaming at someone in the car in front of me about something, and just banging on my steering wheel, and all of sudden I remember looking up, I just had a moment of clarity where I realized, this is my problem today, that if I didn't change, my daughter was gonna get what I got. Might seem to someone else anti-climatic, but to me it was a turning point in my life, and realized that I'm gonna either live my life this way, or I'm gonna change. I have the power, and the responsibility to fix it.
And I committed to therapy, and this wonderful lady, she would sit and listen to me rage, and get so angry, and blame everyone for everything. But I just hung in, I learned that anger is just a big front for fear of that hurt coming back that we felt when we were younger.
Once my foundation was re-built, once I had some solid ground, I was able to feel different."
