A Ruptured Ovarian Cyst: Stephanie's Story
After blacking out from extreme pain, Stephanie was immediately rushed to the hospital. There she learned the terrifying details as to what caused this calamity. Unfortunately this sort of thing happens all the time. This is Stephanie's story.
I'm Stephanie and I'm from New Jersey.
I woke up with a pain like in my side, it was -it was -I mean, it was a really, really sharp, sharp pain. I felt like I had to pee, so I went into the stall, you know, I tried to pee, couldn't. By the time I opened the door and tried to get out, I blacked out. My roommates called the ambulance, I got to the hospital and they did two different kinds of ultrasounds and they found the one that had ruptured. Basically, what had happened was I had a cyst that obviously I didn't know I even had a cyst on my ovary that burst in my sleep and that's what caused me to wake up with pain.
I didn't even know what a cyst was at this point. I was only 18 years old. It's very strange and it's, you know, I was really uneasy about it. I thought maybe, you know, I had a disease or something, or like something even worse.
You know, every since then it's just, you know, I have to go in and get it checked, you know. And then check both of them to see if I'm growing any more cysts. So yeah, you definitely, I mean, after it happens, you have to keep checking on it, you know. And it is, you know, it's kind of a nuisance, but at the same time, like you want to be sure that nothing, you don't want that to happen again.
