Angina is usually a symptom of a serious condition called coronary heart disease (CHD), also known as coronary artery disease (CAD). In CHD, the arteries of the heart become stiff and narrow. Less blood and oxygen get to your heart.^1,3 Too little oxygen can lead to the pain and discomfort of angina. Angina is the way your heart tells you it needs more oxygen.¹
